Keen to encourage residents to unleash their creativity and provide a fun activity during the recent government lockdown, at the end of June the team at GMV launched a competition inviting residents to draw or take a photograph showing how they are enjoying their summer.

There was a fabulous response from residents all of ages, with paintings of the River Thames, the Emirates cable car and trees within Southern Park, drawings of children playing and adults sunbathing and collages showing people doing all sorts of activities around Greenwich Millennium Village. There were also excellent photographs of children gardening on their balconies and the sun setting on Southern Park.

Ajantha Selva was the winner of the photograph competition, with a fabulous shot looking from the development across the ecology park to the River Thames.  Laila Mohammed was the winner of the drawing competition, with a great design showing a family having fun in Southern Park playing football and enjoying a picnic and a BBQ.

The winning designs were transformed into actual postcards for each of the winners to send to their friends and family. They were also awarded a £50 gift voucher and a winner’s certificate.

Chris Bladon, Director of Greenwich Millennium Village comments: “We are delighted with the response to the Holiday at Home postcard design competition. It provided residents with a great activity to enjoy during the government lockdown and the excellent level of entries demonstrates both the creativity of our residents and the excellent community spirit enjoyed at GMV.  Huge
